Just four launches into the day and the wind proved out of limits for the tug. Disappointing for all.

The club were delighted to be asked to take part in RAF Shawbury Families Day on a very hot August summer’s day.

The sun shone on a cracking day a Shawbury and with the forecast promising great conditions it was the trigger for a number of members both old and new to set personal goals for the day.

Strong thermic activity expected with +400fpm from 10:00 onward with cloud base to 6,000ft expected.

A rather cloudy day with occasional light rain in the morning but turning brighter in the afternoon.

Given the forecast earlier in the week we had several members planning a cross country trip but it was not to be.

A dry start to the day, with some bright or sunny spells and staying bright into the afternoon, though we may see a few lunch time showers.

Another blue sky day with some booming thermals and a great day’s flying at RAF Shawbury.

The weather did not live up to the forecast with the cloud cover lingering for much longer than expected and only clearing late in the day.

Overnight showery rain will clear quickly eastwards during the morning to leave a bright afternoon with sunny spells.
