Like Chalk and Cheese, well Sand and Fun!

While some of us awoke today to a wipe-out on higher ground in Shropshire…….

…….one lucky club member was sunning himself in warmer climes!

Team Airborne Pyrotechnics consisting of father and son Tim and Tom Dews together with RAF Shawbury Gliding Club’s CFI Ian Gallacher are out in Saudi taking part in Sand and Fun…...

After a day of rigging the two Grob 109s of Team Airborne Pyrotechnics……

…….and four days of practice, our boy did the opening display on day one of a five-day show.

Each day has a day and a night display.  By day the team have shared thermals with 7kg 2-meter span vultures which are a bit larger than our Shawbury based Red Kite.

Night is proper black!

Amazing what 2,000 drones can do on pitch black night.

Finally, and to note for Hangar 4, there is a stuffed Eagle, one in every hangar, to scare the birds and over exuberant hangar stackers (we know who you are!) 🤣🤣🤣
