Storm Darragh - Sun 8 Dec 24
Even had we been able to fly, the back end of Storm Darragh saw gusts of 35kts at Shawbury today. So for those plucky stalwarts who turned up the immediate task was to complete the annual and then rig the Tin Shed. Regular readers of this esteemed blog will note that the Tin Shed (AKA a Platypus B4) now sports a tailplane in a rather tasty blue shade courtesy of Delux Weathershield Quick Dry Gloss
News Flash. After 2 years Norm finally got around to repairing the trailer he damaged!
You’ve heard of Elf on a Shelf, well here’s Will on a sill!
Will got a day pass from nursery duty to do some online Xmas pressie shopping and then wash down the wings of various aircraft. He said he was just glad to get out and about and away from nappies!
In place of the Tin Shed we put R66 into workshops for its annual and this should ensure that we have uninterrupted availability of the whole fleet next season.
There was, of course, lemon drizzle cake courtesy of Mrs #vulcanbomber to make proceedings go more smoothly while #vulvanbomber was set the task of starting the maintenance and annual inspection of R66’s trailer in preparation for the inevitable land-out next season in the nearest chicken field.
The ASW20 syndicate have purchased a new trailer with a “dead”ASW20 inside it which they have been robbing for spares. Today was trailer changeover day.😎
We hope that we have boxed off the safety case to fly whilst the runway refurb at Shawbury is underway and that we will see a return to flying next weekend.
