RAF Shawbury Families Day Thu 10 Aug 23

A blisteringly hot day saw club members supporting the annual RAF Shawbury Families Day.  It’s a great event and one to which we always look forward.

With the Chinook U/S Ian Gallacher’s aerobatic display was brought forward and followed the noisy Typhoon (a la Cosford Air Shaw), a fantastic contrast in both noise and speed but both equally engaging.  Thanks to Colin Haynes for driving the tug and to Ian for a much appreciated and impressive display.

The exceptional heat saw large numbers escape to the relative cool of Hangar 4 where the club had set up two displays, both of which drew an enthusiast audience.  The static K21 is a super photo opportunity.

Next to the K21 we had set up the BGA simulator, always a great draw.  We discovered that amongst the potential pilots there was some great young talent.

At 1600 we packed the displays – well most of us assisted – to make way for the evening’s activities in Hangar 4!

A great day out and one to put in the calendar for next year if you’re around!
