Flying Report Sat 10 Jul 21

A fantastic day’s flying that was enjoyed by everyone, not least by our 6 visitors.  We welcomed visitors from the Long Mynd and Manchester University naval contingent along with two new more local members.

Whilst we waited for the cloud base to lift Norm Potts gave a comprehensive airfield brief for our visitors in Hangar 4…….

Following the disappointment of last weekend we were delighted to welcome our naval visitors from Manchester Uni and all got a good trip in the K13 with Colin.  Parth Mahimkar took the honours with a flight of 27 mins.

Well done to James Viney for flying an excellent approach to r’way 18 whist his naval colleagues looked on.  Earlier they had been entertained by Andy Hagan’s “porpoise” landing in the K21 in honour, he said, of our naval visitors

Many congratulations to James Pottage, seen here with instructor Geoff Matthews, on conversion to the K21 and then taking a first solo.  Well done James.

As the day went on we enjoyed some booming thermals and great views over Shropshire.  For those who weren’t there (and some who were) it was the perfect 5 hour duration day, a day in which we achieved just over 15 hours flying.

Finally it was great to see Ross Leyman back on the airfield after a long absence.  Unfortunately he forgot to bring the cakes - next time Ross.
