Easter Bank Holiday Monday Flying
Taking into account the wind chill factor, the temp didn’t rise above 2C all day. However, it was a day that lived up to the RASP forecast but, unfortunately, not for all. Given the strong wind the launch point was limited at the commencement of flying at around 1200 to R66, 243 and FCV and we launched into a stiff wind off 36.
At various times of the day we were joined in the sky by gliders from other clubs, all making the most of the conditions and those who did fly enjoyed the most fantastic conditions with height of the day at 10,000ft in Wave going to Alan Swan (with very cold feet) in R66.
Stunning views were enjoyed through the clouds of the Welsh and Shropshire countryside
Eventually, at around 1400 the wind was out of limits for the tug and we called off any further launches leaving R66, 243 and FCV to enjoy themselves whilst the rest of us told war stories! 5 launches and an average flight time of 1hr 57mins – a grand day out!
