Flying Report Saturday 29 May 21

Great weather that lived up to the promise in the X-Section made up for the past week-ends lost to the rain.  With many new members, instructors were kept busy with both 2 seaters occupied all day, indeed there was little time for others to get away.

Brilliant viz and some booming thermals provided a fantastic flying experience.

Congratulations to Richie Wilebore on re-soloing after a gap of 2 years and we now look forward to getting him into a single seater.

Congratulations too to Will Dean, our first home grown instructor in some time and our first at Shawbury.

Towards the end of the day a highly talented crew with a combined age in excess of 140 years were allowed to take to the air in the K13 for over an hour but couldn’t agree who was going to pay!

It was most enjoyable day on which we were able to welcome other new members and on which we achieved some 9/1/2 hours flying time.  Great to see Danny Robertson from Cosford who took a first trip on conversion from ultralights – gliding is much cheaper Danny!

Finally, the highlight of the day was the last flight and watching our Junior Member Darcy perform a series of loops with Dad Ian coaching from the back seat of the K21. Well done Darcy
