Flying Report for Sunday, December 31st, 2023

Over the last few weekends, chances to fly have been sparce. The maintenance jobs around the hangar have kept club members busy and spirits high (along with cake and other titbits - a gliding club “maintains” on it’s stomach dontcha know!) However, the slightest chance to get airborne and we have willingly set up the airfield to fly.

The early morning skies gave us reason to hope that the Gliding Gods were on our side and after a quick but thorough briefing, we assembled on the airfield ready to commit aviation.

First to launch were Amelia and Will in The K21, towed by Colin in WG……

…….In fact they were the only ones to launch as the weather forecast was borne out and the showers set in.

We returned to the hangar to await the “potential gap” that would appear around lunch time. Needless to say it never did.

The time waiting for the gap to arrived was used to replace a rudder cable (really running out of things that need maintaining at the moment) and ground schooling for the RAF Guys.

An underwhelming end to 2023, but we remain hopeful and, on days like these, hold on to one thought, although it doesn’t feel like it, we’ve broken the back of Winter……

SUMMER IS COMING!
