SEIGHFORD WEEK

With weather interrupting flying at Shawbury over the past few weekends, a few of the more frustrated club members headed off to Seighford not just to fly, but also to breath in the heady smell of fresh roasted coffee that wafted over the airfield from the nearby factory unit.

Whilst some wanted to take advantage of a good forecast and get in some soaring, for others it was an opportunity to get current on winch launching.  It was also good to experience flying at a different location.

Alan (KESS), Geoff M (243) and Nick (FCV) took their own syndicate aircraft and enjoyed some great soaring trips in the early part of the week.  Whilst Geoff M went over to check on our old stamping ground at Cosford, Alan took some time to get airborne in the DG Lawnmower, evidently having run out of fuel and having to call up a bowser.  Alan later went on to complete a 156km task.

The winch jockeys were left on the ground to muck in before flying Seighford’s Twin Astir and K13 and achieve winch currency.  For some it was over 2 1/2 years from their last winch launch at Cosford!

Well done The Vicar who, with money to burn from the collection plate, flew both at Seighford and with Motorglide at Bicester during the week.

With thanks to our friends at Seighford for making us so welcome and we look forward to seeing some of you flying again at Shawbury in the Winter months.
