Flying Report 12 Dec 21

After the blistering cold of the last few weekends, members gathered on this mid-December day for what would have seemed, from the forecast, to be quite a dull day

However…

The hardy crowd that rocked up were pleasantly surprised to find the wave being marked by cloud bars, and that the airfield was even warmer than the hangar. When up in the air the frequently changing sky provided more stunning views across the Shropshire countryside, including the flooded Severn

Liam and Andy took the chance to continue perfecting their take offs and landings. Despite the gusty crosswind and bumpy aerotows, which provided some tricky conditions, both managed well. Colin also made more progress through his B module exercises under the “assistance” of his “gobby” student

Whilst Geoff M managed an impressive 2h28m and got to 4000ft over Much Wenlock, he lost the Hog of the Day title after letting slip that he used his iron thermal three times

Today’s Hog of the Day title therefore passed to both Harri Reilly and Alan Swan, who achieved an impressive 1h28m flight up to 7650ft. They were rewarded with great views out over the tops of the clouds, over the old WWII airfield at Peplow. Well done guys
