Flying Report Sun 28 Nov 21

The Met X-Section produced an entirely different forecast with just a short flying window before the onset of sleet and snow.  Following the passage of Storm Arwen a substantial quantity of leaves had collected outside Hangar 4, sufficient to prevent egress.  Luckily, Nigel Readman (loves a good procedure does Nigel), had written a procedure for their removal and we were quickly into action first singly, and then in pairs.

So for the few hardy folk who ventured out on to r’way 36 it was evident that there was snow in the air…..

….as we could see was evident over the Welsh mountains and also the Peak District.

With the very short weather window, the aim was to get everyone a flight and more if possible for those in training.  The latter included Colin Haynes who is making good progress on his way to his ½ Cat.  Colin had flying school in the morning and then ground school with Simon Adlard in the afternoon.  Colin’s flying lesson saw Alan Swan playing the part of one of those reluctant older members wondering why they had to undertake a check flight, a part that Alan had no difficulty dealing with!

With snow fast approaching, the last flights of the day went to Darcy, with Dad Ian in the back seat, and then to Liam Riley who continued his pre-solo training with Nick Lewinton.  Flying ceased at around 13:30
