Flying Report Fri 30 Dec 22

A disappointing day for those who turned up hoping to fly despite the forecast.  The CFI had clearly seen the Shawbury forecast for today and declared himself stranded in Barbados so Alan kindly stepped up as the duty dog.

With rain ahead of a cold front, the weather committee…..

…..looked at various forecasts before deciding at around 13:00 to fly.  Taking R35 and R66 out to the launch point on r’way 18, we managed just 4 launches before the front passed through, the wind veered to favour r’way 23 and increased suddenly in strength with gusts to 40kts.  It was not a difficult decision to scrub flying.

It has been a disappointing December and let’s just hope for a better forecast for next Monday, our first flying day of 2023.
