Flying Report Sat 19 Jun 21

A day on which the weather very much mirrored the Met Office X-Section, dull and overcast to start with but getting thermic as the sun broke through the cloud cover in the afternoon.

We were delighted to welcome new member Rhydian Smith from Cosford seen here taking a first flight in the capable hands of Will Dean.  We look forward to seeing you back on the airfield soon Rhydian.

Liam Riley, also from Cosford and seen here with instructor Geoff Matthews landing the K21 can probably claim hog-of the-day with a total flight time of 1hr 48 mins.

Many congratulations to James Pottage sent solo by Alan Swan on R38…..

…..and well done on your landing in what was quite a sporty cross wind.  See the link at https://youtu.be/iF2i1fnWeso

There was then a wait and a queue formed at the launch point whilst we awaited the highlight of the day which was the flypast by an Avro Anson.

Much anticipated, the noise by the air-cooled radial engines of c/s Classic 33 brought a smile to many a face as it flew past the launch point. See the link at https://youtu.be/huRRfe7CEPw

A cracking day in which we achieved 10 hours flying time and great to see a number of Shawbury and Cosford based members out for the day
