A day that didn’t deliver in terms of the weather but did deliver in terms of achievements.  Despite a two hour break for rain we managed 31 launches, over 18 hours of flying time, one solo, a re-solo and, subject to completion of the BGA paperwork, a new BI.

Despite the delay whilst we awaited the runway sweeper to cease ops, Ian and Sophie took the first launch at 10:25.  After all the hard work it is congratulations to Sophie on passing her CFI Acceptance Test and we now await confirmation from the BGA.

Practice launch failures seem to be on the minds of our instructors and we saw 3 during the course of the day

Next away was Rob.  Flying with Alan in the K13 (R46), Rob took a couple of check rides before being sent off on his own by Alan.  Well done Rob on your re-solo following a break from gliding.

Up to this point the viz had been poor due to the high humidity and it was steadily decreasing as a large band of rain approached (which the Martins and Swallows all enjoyed). 

Either side of a two hour break we got all our MEF and Go-Solo students flying, with some achieving 4 launches during the day

It is always a delight to welcome youngsters at the start of their aviation journey.  Today we welcomed Air Cadet Will and we placed him in R22 with our grown up Air Cadet Colin.  We gather they enjoyed a great trip and that we may see Will on a more regular basis and we look forward to that.

We also like to welcome family members on to the airfield and this time it was the turn of Norman (AKA Will) to bring Dad Simon along for a flight.  In improving weather they took a 2,000ft launch to enjoy the Shropshire countryside.

Highlight of the day way Glenn’s solo.  After a couple of trips with Alan, including the mandatory practice launch failure, Glenn was sent solo on the last flight of the day.. Huge congrats Glenn and keep going on your next posting.
