FIT4life 2024 RAF Cosford 14 Mar 24

The club took the fuselage of ASK21 (R35) to this year’s FIT4life held in the Gymnasium, and home of the RAF School of Physical Training at RAF Cosford.

We were but one of a number of stands that aimed to show the wide range of interests, activities and hobbies open principally to Ph2 trainees at RAF Cosford, but also to the wider, whole service community.

With Ian, Nick, John and Alun available to answer questions, it was probably Geoff C’s presence that made the greatest impact!

Approximately 500 students who could be released from duties attended the event.

The next door stand featured, amongst other things, a number of drones flying around the hangar, including FPV (as seen in Ukraine).  This prompted Alun to go and get his new toy and fly that.  Most interesting and one can quickly see the applications for this fascinating technology and how it captures the imagination of GenZ.  Even these small Group 1 drones are now seen as a force multiplier.

And here’s a drones-eye view!!!

A steady stream of visitors to the stand kept us busy all day and with approximately 60 showing an interest in joining the club, there are more than enough to take advantage of this year’s tranche of MEF funding.

We also welcomed Hanna and Alex from the RAF Central Fund without which valuable support, the MEF programme would not be sustainable.

Finally, well done to the raffle winners!
