Flying Report Bank Holiday Monday

So much for yesterday’s forecast and an optimistic X-Section - not a sight of the sun, so any hope of a repeat of Saturday’s conditions were lost.  However, the day was a triumph for Colin Haynes who has completed his aero-tow training – just the paperwork left to submit.

At the start of the day we welcomed Liv, partner and new-born daughter.  So whilst partner managed the ground events, Liv took a BI flight in Colin’s capable hands.  By all accounts Liv is a natural and we hope to see her and family back on the airfield.

Following some dual refresher training Colin embarked on a series of solo aero-tow flights arranged in waves in order to give him a break, and all this under the watchful eye of the jury.

Colin completed his 10th solo trip with the perfect tow - count the seconds to the end of the runway!  Congratulations Colin

Meanwhile the winch committee, who had earlier spent 3 days in the week on winch maintenance over at Cosford, were eyeing up the airfield for potential winch launch sites.  They realised that the run on the grass from the 36 launch point all the way down toward the 23 launch point was perfect with few, if any, impediments - hmmm!

Last flights of the day went to young Darcy Gallacher who gave up her normal diet of aerobatics in the K21 to put in some aero-tow and circuit training with Dad Ian.  Good work Darcy and thanks for all your help on the airfield today.

Bank Holiday Monday flying rounded off a great weekend of achievements and over 28 hours of flying time.  Shawbury really is a cracking place to have as a club home.
