FLYING REPORT - October 15, 2023

The day started bright and still with blue skies and a distinct drop in temperature .

Flying off runway 36, the first to commit aviation was Taje, an MEF student. He completed his bursary with a 4,000 ft aerotow with Colin to do some aerobatics.

It was also a day to take in the view as the air quality was fantastic compared to that of recent weeks. Taje has now completed his MEF flights and is applying for ‘Go Solo’ funding, in order to continue his training.

Toby was keen to get in to the front of the K13 to practice for his Ass Cat course next week. We wish you luck Toby and hope that the weather is better than you have predicted. He finished off the day doing Motor Glider instruction as that is his next goal.

A big congrats are in order, for Ben, as he completed his first solo in R35. Ben has a “Go Solo” bursary and has been able to use it to good effect. We hope to see him to return to continue flying with us in the future. This was the second solo student for Instructor Will, in two weeks. With both Ben and Taje completing their bursaries, this clears the way for more service men and women to participate in the schemes so who knows what next week will bring?

Will is also working towards his aerobatic badge and continued the training he started at Denbigh.

We had visitors to the airfield for BI flying, John, aged 9, who “just wanted to fly”, as a birthday present from his mum. John had to fly in the back seat due to being too light, for ballast reasons, but we made sure he had a good view and he was able to take some pictures……

And Ellie who had heard all about Aerobatics from a family member and wanted to give it a go….

Finally, our second newest, and youngest solo pilot took to the skies again (after soloing last week). Perfect conditions to perfect that landing technique.

It maybe time to start putting on the woolly hats and extra layers, but it was perfect weather for training, solos, aerobatics and first time flying. A good day was had by all.
